While single-residence work is not Timberline's focus, our teams have undertaken a few larger complex homes. One example is this 150 year old Victorian former ship captain's house which overlooked Boston Harbor in the 1800's. The disheveled 4,500 square foot Victorian received a modern addition and historic renovation updating the residence without forfeiting the historic charm and craftsmanship. This project shows our capabilities, whether producing custom millwork to match original 8'-9' tall doors and custom moldings throughout, or working closely with the clients to facilitate decision making; we worked as a team to reach our client's goals. The challenge was to create the new space matching the existing level of detail from 150 years ago and blending it for an authentic look. It was not until after the completion of the project that an antique glass photo-negative was found of the historical residence, which mirrored the design of the exterior restoration. Though this vintage find would have been a significant lead in sketching out renovation plans, it instead validated the design-build vision.
