State of Maine Radio Tower
Temple, MaineTimberline worked on a radio communications tower for the State of Maine. Foundations were 30' deep rock anchors on 4 piers. Project includes the Stealth install to look like a fire look-out tower, as well as the installation of a public viewing platform. To power the tower at its remote location a solar array panel measuring 30' wide by 15' tall was framed and installed with a six pier 12' deep rock anchored foundation. The Shelter consists of a 400 square-foot foundation and the installation of four 125 gallon propane tanks.
This complex site, located at the top of Mount Blue (elevation 3,193), required three different sized helicopters for all daily crew access as well as equipment, tools and materials deliveries such as concrete and steel. One challenge was first clearing approximately 5,000 square feet of trees on the mountain-top then all the trees had to be flown to the bottom of the hill.
