Timberline Construction Celebrates Topping Off of 38,000 SF LA Fitness

New England Real Estate Journal, October 2013

Cranston, RI Timberline Construction recently celebrated a construction milestone for their ground-up LA Fitness project. The construction team gathered on-site for the topping off ceremony, each signing the last steel beam before it was put in place on the soon to be 38,000 s/f two-story LA Fitness sports club. Steven P. Kelly, President of Timberline, led the topping off ceremony and the signing of the white beam.

A pine tree and American flag were placed at the highest point on the building under construction to signify a safe completion of the steel frame without injury or loss of life. It also is thought to symbolize the life and growth of the building and projects good luck towards its future tenant. The tree will later be replanted.

The topping off ceremony brought together the extended team and acknowledged the importance of collaboration, communication and relationships. It also generated excitement as the community anticipates new high-end amenity offerings.

When finished the sports club will include cardio rooms, a spin studio, day-care center, reception and lounge areas, juice bar, sales area, aerobics classroom, basketball court, weight rooms, men and women locker rooms, and a 145 s/f indoor pool with spa.The project also includes the installation of an elevator to the second floor of the fitness club. This will be Timberline’s second ground-up LA Fitness, having completed the LA Fitness in Stoughton, MA last December.
